Raptors Win Third Straight State Title!

The Ravenwood Raptors Boys Lacrosse Team captured their third straight State Championship (Div 1AA) Saturday afternoon, taking down Brentwood 7 - 5. The Raptors fought off a tough Bruin side and brutal heat to pull off the three peat.

Both teams showed a bit of big game jitters in the first half with the score tied 1 - 1 at the intermission. But Ravenwood came out blazing in the 3rd scoring 6 unanswered and opening up a 7 - 1 lead going into the 4th. Brentwood refused to go away quietly, closing the score to 7 - 5 with a couple minutes to play in the contest. Ravenwood was able to hold off the rush and secure victory, avenging a regular season loss to Brentwood at their place.

The game pivoted at the face-off dot with Nic Shaner winning 9 of 15 and giving his Raptor teammates the advantage on possessions. Meanwhile, Ravenwood's net minder Patrick Oldham played an extraordinary game, tallying 13 saves and only allowing 5 goals against. The Raptor defense consistently made things difficult for the Bruin attack, and together with Oldham held Brentwood to their lowest goal total of the season.

Anthony Lattero led the Raptor offense with 3 goals and 3 assists. Jack Foster added 2 goals while Connor Jensen added 1 goal / 1 assist, Pace Stollenwerk had 1 goal and 2 assists and Luke Schenkel and Paul Coakley added an assist each.

The Raptors wrap up the season 13 - 4. The team will celebrate 2022 and their latest state title Tuesday evening at their annual banquet.
