Raptors Beat Webb 10 - 4 to Start 2023 Campaign

Ravenwood Lacrosse got the 2023 season off to a good start, defeating the Spartans of Knoxville Webb 10 - 4 on a damp and cool Sunday in Knoxville.

Coach Garner's troops dominated possession time, but early season sloppy play was the real story of the day for both teams. The Raptor defense and goaltender Patrick Oldham kept the Spartans from gaining any meaningful offensive momentum. That gave the Ravenwood Offense some time to settle in and eventually take the game over. Nick Bertauski and Joey Flaherty led Raptor scoring with 3 goals and 2 assists each, while Jack Foster added 2G and 2A and Sam Bratten had 2G and 1A. Eli Ripani, Luke Schenkel and Jack Gardzina added assists on a day where all 10 Raptor goals were assisted.

The face-off dot was a draw with Gardzina taking 9 of 18. Oldham made 8 quality saves in the contest.

Ravenwood is carrying a heavy load in the early parts of the schedule, with 5 games in a 7 day window. They travel to Oakland for a Monday evening contest at 6pm, then host Westminster (FL) on Thursday at Ravenwood Stadium before traveling to Memphis over the weekend for games at Briarcrest (Sat) and Christian Brothers (Sun).
